The Myth of Sisyphus by Albert CamusMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Aims to answer one of the most important, haunting and thought provoking question of this life. The absurdity of life. Is life worth living, should we be part of this tormenting process of living through this never-ending absurdity where there are no answers, only unclear explanations, everyone trying their best to explain, knowing well at the same time that this is all vague. Is death a way out. If it is, should we wait for it or just commit suicide.
On the one side is this absurd and strange Life, which was given to us, if it was given, without ever consulting us about it. At least we should have been asked about our time and space preferences, but then would it have solved our problems or would it have opened a new Pandora's box. On the other side is Death, which is even more unclear. No one has lived death, no accounts available. Could it be an escape, at least it seems like one.
So where to search for answers of this existential crisis, if they exist somewhere. Camus makes an excellent try by exploring different forms of art, giving us hope in the end. But hope can a dangerous thing.
