My old 'About Me' of Goodreads

sometimes i tell people my dream job is to be a librarian. they laugh at me and ask me why. i say simply, simple for me at least, that i feel a strange sensation to be near books all the time. they laugh more, think of me as stupid and move on. ironically i feel the same about them<br />What started as a craving for knowledge to understand <i>'the Life'</i> has transformed into a deep relationship with books. Somewhere along came an account on GR. Books and me are now undisputed partners for life. Sometimes deeply engulfed in my musings I ask myself why I read books. What is the purpose. What do I intend to achieve. Guess I'm trying to reach light at the end of tunnel. What I will find there or Will I ever get there? Who knows. But the journey for sure is delightful and full of discoveries. Reading books is like a touch of immortality and having a conversation with some very interesting people even those who left us ages ago. Nothing has such power. And is there a reason required for human beings to gain knowledge.Gaining knowledge is our nature. Ignorance doesn't suit us although present age has adopted most things which do not suit us. So now you must know what I like more a room full of books or people. Definitely books. Books have transformed me without any doubt. They have liberated me. Its sad I cant read all of them. I am limited. I keep an open heart for all kinds of books. Everything is interesting and inspires you in its own way.History, philosophy and literature must be studied by everyone. Yet it won't be. Not with the blast of this present information age. You want liberation, books can help. I also maintain a blog which mostly remains dry. Sometimes I scribble my thoughts here and there but I lack discipline for such a thing which really makes the difference. I had to cut parts of my 'About Me' due to restriction on characters.
Camus' Absurd Man in the making... I think of myself as some time/space anomaly.

Review: Fallen Leaves: Last Words on Life, Love, War, and God

Fallen Leaves: Last Words on Life, Love, War, and God Fallen Leaves: Last Words on Life, Love, War, and God by Will Durant
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This books is a bit conservative and redundant but conveys an important message trying to be as brief as possible at the same time. Provides a clear understanding of most of the prevailing issues keeping in context the different perspectives the dynamics involved in these issues. Some solutions proposed as well, which might not prove agreeable to many but they seem logical and rational.

Interesting topics covered in form of small chapters, some of them delightful to read. Especially the chapter on history is worth reading again, it aroused my fondness of history once again. In the end, its just a ninety-five year old person trying to use his pen, knowledge and experience for the betterment of the world. Looking forward to read other books by Durant.
